Eight individuals have been arrested in connection with a large smuggling operation involving counterfeit and illegal goods, valued at $200 million, through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
The operation, which included dishonest truck drivers, warehouse owners, and logistics firms, smuggled goods from China using fake customs seals to bypass inspections.
Federal authorities discovered the operation after busting $200 million in contraband, including dangerous goods. The smuggling ring targeted busy U.S. ports, with the main defendant still at large in China.
The accused face serious charges, including conspiracy, smuggling, and breaking customs seals. If convicted, they could face lengthy prison sentences.
The investigation continues as authorities work to dismantle similar operations.
