Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the Department of Justice is actively involved in the investigation of a deadly shooting targeting Minnesota Democratic lawmakers. “I am closely monitoring developments in Minnesota after what appears to be a targeted attack against state lawmakers. The FBI is on the ground investigating this case alongside state and local partners,” Bondi posted on X. She emphasized that such “horrific violence will not be tolerated” and vowed full prosecution under the law. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino confirmed the bureau’s active role, and FBI Director Kash Patel offered a \$50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Vance L. Boelter, the prime suspect in the shootings that left Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband dead and Sen. John Hoffman and his wife hospitalized.
President Donald Trump also issued a statement expressing his condolences and condemning the attack. “Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America,” he said. Meanwhile, former NFL player Jack Brewer, who once played for both the Minnesota Vikings and Golden Gophers, blamed the incident on what he described as failed leadership under Gov. Tim Walz. Brewer called Minnesota “the capital of chaos,” criticizing the state’s political climate and urging a return to traditional values. Boelter allegedly impersonated a police officer to gain access to the victims’ homes. He remains at large, with a hit list found in his possession indicating a broader plan. Gov. Walz called the attack a “politically motivated assassination,” though he did not disclose Boelter’s previous ties to his administration.
