Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), long seen by some Republicans as a ‘RINO’ (Republican In Name Only), is facing a potentially tough primary challenge as his support among GOP voters declines. A recent poll by Quantus Insights surveyed 600 registered voters in South Carolina, finding Graham’s overall approval at 41 percent, with 46 percent disapproving and 13 percent undecided. Among Republican voters, 22 percent said they would “definitely” back a challenger in the upcoming primary, and another 23 percent said they would “probably” support a challenger. Only 34 percent said they would “definitely” support Graham, while 21 percent remain undecided.
South Carolina businessman Mark Lynch has already declared his candidacy and released internal polls showing significant opposition to Graham. In a head-to-head matchup, 48 percent favored Graham, 23 percent favored Lynch, and 29 percent were undecided. Lynch criticized Graham’s record, accusing him of opposing key Trump-backed reforms and supporting policies Trump publicly opposes. This primary could prove challenging for the longtime senator as many Republican voters seek change.
