Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene launched a sharp attack on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), labeling her a “pathetic little hypocrite” for her changing stance on U.S. military involvement. Greene criticized AOC for supporting U.S. military aid to Ukraine under President Biden but adopting an anti-war position regarding President Trump’s recent strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. AOC condemned Trump’s strikes as a “grave violation” of constitutional war powers and argued they are “clearly grounds for impeachment.” She described the attacks as “disastrous” and “impulsive,” warning that they risk entangling the U.S. in a prolonged conflict. Along with other Democrats, AOC has proposed articles of impeachment, asserting that Trump violated the War Powers Resolution by ordering military action without congressional approval.
Greene responded by accusing AOC and other Democrats of hypocrisy, pointing out that they often vote to fund overseas military actions when politically advantageous, then pivot to an anti-war stance. Greene highlighted AOC’s prior support for funding the Ukraine war as evidence undermining her moral outrage over Trump’s actions. On social media, Greene wrote, “Shut up you pathetic little hypocrite. YOU fully supported our military and IC running the proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. And you VOTED to fund the Ukraine war under your President with dementia. You don’t get to play anti-war and moral outrage anymore.” This exchange illustrates the deep political divisions over U.S. foreign policy and military intervention, reflecting contrasting views on when and how the country should engage abroad.
