President Donald Trump is riding a wave of momentum after signing a sweeping \$3.3 trillion tax and domestic policy bill on Friday—marking a string of major victories for his administration. Dubbed the “big, beautiful bill,” the legislation includes permanent tax cuts, new deductions eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, and sweeping reforms to welfare programs like Medicaid and SNAP, adding new work requirements. It also rolls back Biden-era green energy credits and allocates \$350 billion for defense and immigration enforcement.
The bill, passed just before Trump’s self-imposed July 4 deadline, follows other major wins. On June 21, the U.S. conducted airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, destroying key facilities and reportedly setting Iran’s program back by one to two years. “We have completely and totally obliterated those sites,” Trump declared, with the Pentagon confirming severe damage to all targets. The strikes involved more than 125 aircraft and were hailed as a major blow to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Trump’s legal momentum is also growing. On June 27, the Supreme Court ruled 6–3 to limit lower courts from issuing nationwide injunctions. This decision effectively removes one of the biggest legal roadblocks to Trump’s executive orders, including his controversial ban on birthright citizenship. Trump called the ruling a victory for presidential authority and a rejection of what he described as judicial overreach.
Adding to the string of victories, Trump secured a \$16 million legal settlement from Paramount Global over a lawsuit related to a CBS “60 Minutes” interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump accused CBS of deceptive editing, and while the settlement doesn’t include an apology, the funds will be used for his future presidential library and legal expenses.
Taken together, these developments have significantly energized Trump’s base. With major legislative, military, and legal wins in a short span of time, Trump’s recent successes have reshaped the political landscape and strengthened his position heading into the next phase of his presidency.
