President Donald Trump on Saturday praised ICE officers for their role in his sweeping immigration agenda, spotlighting their efforts over the July 4th weekend as part of what he says will be the “largest mass deportation operation in history.” In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote, “THANK YOU to the Heroic ICE Officers fighting every day to reclaim our Sovereignty and Freedom,” highlighting their importance in executing his immigration policies.
Trump tied the recognition to his “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which includes billions in new funding for immigration enforcement. “One of the most exciting parts of the ‘ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL ACT’ is that it includes ALL of the Funding and Resources that ICE needs,” Trump stated. He emphasized the operation as central to his “REMIGRATION” initiative, vowing it would help “Make America Great Again” by restoring order and removing illegal immigrants.
Former acting ICE Director Tom Homan, recently reappointed under Trump, revealed the personal sacrifices he’s made due to his public role. In a recent podcast interview, Homan said he and his wife are living separately because of frequent death threats. “She’s someplace else… the death threats against me and my family are outrageous,” he said.
Homan recalled the moment Trump called him after his 2024 victory, urging him to return to the administration. “You’ve been bitching about it for four years. Well, come back and fix it,” Trump reportedly told him. Homan described the call as a proud moment he couldn’t turn down.
In a show of heightened national security efforts, ICE recently detained 11 Iranian nationals following U.S. airstrikes on Iran. Among them was Ribvar Karimi, a former sharpshooter in Iran’s military. Officials say these arrests demonstrate the administration’s aggressive stance on securing the homeland and addressing potential threats.
