Trump Says He Is Confident In FBI Probe Into Assassination Attempt

President Donald Trump last week addressed questions surrounding one of the assassination attempts against him, expressing confidence in the ongoing investigation. Speaking to Daily Caller White House Correspondent Reagan Reese, Trump said he is “very satisfied” with the FBI’s handling of the case tied to the 2024 Butler, Pennsylvania, incident.

This marks the first time Trump has publicly endorsed the FBI’s efforts in the case, putting to rest months of speculation and doubt. In earlier interviews, including one with Fox News, Trump had expressed skepticism, stating, “I’m relying on my people to tell me what it is… The Secret Service, they tell me, is fine. But it’s a little hard to believe.”

In March, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino addressed public concerns, telling Fox News, “In some of these cases, the ‘there’ you’re looking for is not there.” When asked about Trump’s opinion of that statement, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt referred reporters back to Trump’s own comments, avoiding a direct answer.

Since his appointment, Bongino has taken a proactive approach to long-dormant investigations. He has reopened inquiries into the 2021 D.C. pipe bombing, the discovery of cocaine at the Biden White House, and the leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision. He confirmed the FBI is dedicating new resources and personnel to these cases.

In a separate interview, Bongino hinted that the Secret Service knew the identity of the person responsible for the cocaine incident, contradicting their 2023 statement. These moves signal a renewed focus on transparency and accountability under Trump’s leadership.
