President Donald Trump’s support among baby boomers has seen a significant rebound, giving him renewed strength from one of his most dependable voter groups ahead of the 2026 midterms. According to a recent Quantus Insights survey, Trump’s approval rating among those over 65 jumped from 49 percent last month to 56 percent this month, while disapproval dropped from 49 to 41 percent, marking a +15-point net positive and a notable 15-point swing.
This resurgence underscores Trump’s sustained appeal among older conservatives, a demographic that played a crucial role in his 2024 victory when 51 percent of baby boomers voted for him. Despite some polls showing more stable approval ratings in this age group, such as YouGov/Economist and Marist, the Quantus data highlight a clear upswing in his favor.
Meanwhile, Trump continues to dominate within the Republican base. CNN polling analyst Harry Enten called Trump’s current GOP support “history-making,” noting that 63 percent of Republicans strongly approve of Trump’s performance—up from 53 percent in 2017. This level of enthusiasm is unprecedented for a GOP president five months into a term.
Enten emphasized that Trump’s endorsement is a powerful force in Republican primaries, with over 95 percent of Trump-backed candidates winning their races. “You go against Donald Trump, you go in the grinder,” he said, underscoring Trump’s critical influence over the party.
With strong backing from baby boomers and near-unmatched GOP loyalty, Trump remains a dominant figure in American politics heading into the next election cycle.
