Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is demanding that Democratic lawmakers be “held accountable” for their inflammatory rhetoric against ICE agents, following a surge in ambush-style attacks targeting federal immigration officers. Mullin spoke out during a Fox News interview shortly after the Department of Justice charged 11 individuals linked to a coordinated attack on an ICE facility in North Texas.
Fox host Dana Perino highlighted a staggering 690 percent increase in attacks on federal law enforcement compared to last year, rising from 10 incidents to 79. Mullin attributed the rise to Democrats “villainizing” ICE agents and failing to treat them with respect as law enforcement professionals. He criticized the Democratic Party’s silence on the violence, contrasting it with their usual calls for gun control in other contexts.
Mullin also praised former President Donald Trump’s efforts to restore “law and order” in blue states and cities, which he claimed are overwhelmed by criminals. The Oklahoma senator specifically referenced the July Fourth attack on the Texas ICE facility, where far-left extremists armed with rifles used fireworks and graffiti in an attempt to lure federal agents outside for an ambush.
During the attack, police responding to reports of an armed individual were met with gunfire. One officer was shot in the neck and is currently recovering. Authorities arrested 11 suspects, with 10 facing attempted murder charges. Law enforcement found tactical gear, body armor, firearms, spray paint, fireworks, and communication devices at the suspects’ homes.
Mullin emphasized that the attack was clearly organized, not a peaceful protest, highlighting the tactical preparation and use of jammers at the scene. He condemned the violence and called for accountability from those who promote hostility against law enforcement.
