Trump Calls Out Schiff Over Mortgage Fraud Probe

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social early Tuesday to accuse Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) of mortgage fraud, citing what he claimed was an investigation by Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division. Trump alleged that Schiff misrepresented his primary residence in order to secure a favorable mortgage rate, despite serving as a California congressman at the time.

“I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist,” Trump wrote. “Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA.”

According to Trump, the alleged fraud began with a 2009 refinance of Schiff’s Maryland home and continued across several transactions. Trump claimed the mortgage status was only corrected in 2020, when the property was finally listed as a second home. He described the case as a “sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud” and called for Schiff to be “brought to justice.”

The accusations echo a USA Herald report from May 2025 detailing an ethics complaint filed in October 2024. The complaint, submitted by Christine Bish and Darren Ellis, accuses Schiff of mortgage fraud, voter fraud, and improper campaign filings spanning more than two decades.

This is not the first time the Trump administration has directed such allegations at political rivals. In May, New York Attorney General Letitia James was reportedly under criminal investigation for mortgage fraud after a referral from Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte.

As of now, Schiff has not publicly addressed Trump’s claims, and the existence of any formal investigation remains unconfirmed.
