Border czar Tom Homan issued a stern warning Thursday, stating that individuals caught harboring illegal aliens or assaulting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will face prosecution. Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity, Homan blamed left-wing rhetoric for emboldening anti-ICE sentiment, saying, “You have members of Congress comparing ICE to Nazis and terrorists, which incites violence against agents.”
Homan noted a dramatic increase in assaults on ICE agents—up over 800%—and said the violence has even extended to agents’ families. “You throw a stone at an ICE vehicle, we will arrest you. You put hands on an ICE officer, you’re going to jail. Zero tolerance,” he declared, adding that Attorney General Pam Bondi has coordinated with attorneys nationwide to enforce this crackdown.
The warning follows President Trump’s announcement granting ICE agents “Total Authorization” to defend themselves. Trump made the declaration after protesters allegedly attacked federal officers during an enforcement operation at a cannabis farm in California.
While traveling from Texas to Washington, where he toured flood-stricken areas, Trump posted on Truth Social: “I watched in disbelief as THUGS threw rocks and bricks at ICE officers in official vehicles. I am directing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Border Czar Tom Homan to instruct agents to arrest these SLIMEBALLS using whatever means necessary.”
“I never want to see a car carrying law enforcement attacked again. Authorization immediately granted for arrest and incarceration,” Trump added. The administration has since made it clear that there will be no leniency in such cases moving forward.
