President Donald Trump outlined his plans to end the Russo-Ukrainian War during a press gaggle on Sunday, expressing confidence that both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy want to stop fighting.
Trump stated that he is actively working to secure peace, calling the war one that “should have never started.” He confirmed that Zelenskyy would be involved in the peace talks. Trump also expressed belief that Putin, having led Russia’s military for years, desires an end to the conflict.
Negotiations are set to begin in Saudi Arabia this week, though Ukraine may not directly participate. Trump’s National Security Advisor, Michael Waltz, stated the talks would aim for a “permanent end to the war.”
