Tulsi Gabbard Says Whistleblowers Emerging After Release of Obama-Era Intelligence Docs
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced Sunday that whistleblowers have begun coming forward following the release of documents and a memo alleging a “years-long coup” against former President Donald Trump. Gabbard claimed the materials reveal efforts by the Obama administration to undermine Trump after his 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton.
In an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Gabbard told host Maria Bartiromo, “We have whistleblowers … disgusted by what happened.” She emphasized that her office would provide all related documents to the Department of Justice, asserting, “There must be indictments. Those responsible, no matter how powerful, must be held accountable.”
The documents, made public on Friday, accuse Obama-era intelligence officials of misusing the now-debunked Steele dossier to initiate surveillance on the Trump campaign. Gabbard also criticized Special Counsel John Durham for failing to uncover the full extent of the misconduct. She pointed to the single conviction in Durham’s probe—FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who pleaded guilty in 2020 to falsifying information in a FISA warrant targeting Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
“This is far-reaching,” Gabbard said, referring to what she described as “deep state” actors who worked to undermine democratic processes. She added that her team has been piecing together evidence since she took office six months ago.
Durham’s 2023 report found that the FBI “did not and could not corroborate” the Steele dossier, which was funded by the DNC and Clinton campaign. The two entities later paid a $113,000 fine for misreporting payments related to its production.
