A newly declassified intelligence report alleges that Russia obtained sensitive information about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s health during the 2016 presidential campaign. The report claims Clinton was taking “heavy tranquilizers” and suffering from “psycho-emotional problems,” which reportedly alarmed then-President Barack Obama and senior Democratic Party leaders.
Originally prepared by the House Intelligence Committee in 2020 under then-Chairman Devin Nunes, the report was declassified by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. It suggests Russian intelligence accessed internal Democratic National Committee (DNC) communications indicating that Clinton’s health was deteriorating and that the situation was being kept secret—even from some of her closest advisers.
According to Fox News Digital, the Russians allegedly possessed communications showing Clinton had serious medical conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, ischemic heart disease, deep vein thrombosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The report also claims Clinton’s campaign approved a strategy to link then-candidate Donald Trump to Russian hackers and President Vladimir Putin in an effort to distract the public from the Clinton email server scandal.
During a White House briefing, Gabbard criticized the intelligence community for allegedly mischaracterizing evidence and pushing a narrative that Putin had a clear preference for Trump. She singled out former CIA Director John Brennan, accusing him of relying on the discredited Steele dossier and excluding intelligence that contradicted the narrative.
Public concerns about Clinton’s health were heightened in 2016 after she appeared to collapse while leaving a 9/11 memorial event. The declassified report revives questions about the 2016 election, foreign interference, and the credibility of U.S. intelligence assessments.
