Former Fox News host Melissa Francis has opened up about her departure from the network amid the recent fallout involving Tucker Carlson’s exit. In a Sirius XM interview with Megyn Kelly, Francis recalled an incident where a Fox News manager sent an email calling her a “misogynistic sexist name,” which was mistakenly copied to her. She confronted Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott about the email, but Scott “shrugged it off.” Francis revealed that the man who sent the email remains employed at Fox News and was involved in content related to the Dominion case. She criticized the network’s claim that it protects women from hostile environments, calling it “a bald-faced lie.”
Francis described how she was fired via teleprompter while broadcasting remotely from her home studio. She explained that as the teleprompter displayed the words “You’ve been canceled,” the lights and broadcast abruptly went dead. Staff working the show were reportedly uninformed about the decision and were left scrambling.
In 2022, Francis received \$15 million following a gender-based pay disparity lawsuit against Fox News. Her team believes this legal action led to her termination from the network.
Francis’s comments come shortly after Fox News announced it had parted ways with Tucker Carlson. The network also made headlines when host Dan Bongino departed.
Bongino confirmed on his podcast that his exit was not acrimonious but due to contract disagreements. Fox News stated it would replace Bongino’s show with “Lawrence Jones Cross Country” until a new schedule is announced.
