Trump Posts Meme Mocking Obama Amid Escalating Probe Into 2016 Election Intel
President Donald Trump sparked controversy by posting a meme on Truth Social depicting himself and Vice President J.D. Vance in police cars chasing former President Barack Obama, who is shown driving a white Ford Bronco. The image parodies the 1994 O.J. Simpson police chase, with Obama’s face superimposed over Simpson’s. While the meme’s message is unclear, it appears to be part of Trump’s effort to redirect attention from the Epstein files toward alleged misconduct by the Obama administration.
This comes as Attorney General Pam Bondi instructed federal prosecutors to convene a grand jury to investigate claims that Obama-era officials fabricated intelligence suggesting Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump. The move follows a referral from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who recently declassified documents that challenge the Obama administration’s conclusions on Russian interference.
Gabbard’s referral urged the DOJ to investigate Obama and his top intelligence officials for allegedly promoting a “contrived narrative” about Russian collusion. The declassified materials include a December 2016 meeting record in which Obama reportedly directed officials to produce an intelligence assessment on Russian election interference after Trump’s victory.
Fox News reported that Bondi ordered a federal prosecutor to present this evidence to a grand jury, which now has the power to issue subpoenas and consider possible indictments. A DOJ spokesperson confirmed the seriousness of the referrals, though no charges have been filed as of yet.
The investigation marks a major political flashpoint ahead of the 2026 election season, potentially reigniting partisan debate over the legitimacy of the original Russia probe and fueling renewed scrutiny of former Democratic leaders.
